Last year, the day before Thanksgiving, Chad and I lost our four-year-old cat Yelena to a pulmonary embolism.
It was so fast. And so out of the blue.
I designed this pendant months ago. It’s taken me until now to be able to film this video. I still might not have done it, but today is her birthday, so I wanted to do something special to remember her by. Not that I could ever forget Yelena.
One morning last week, as I was getting ready to make this video, our thirteen-year-old cat Whateley was acting like she didn’t feel good. We took her to the vet right away. At first they thought it was a flare up of her IBD, but it turned out she was in kidney failure.
Treatment for it wasn’t working, so we went to the vet’s office, petted her and brushed her for a very long time, then let her go.
Our hearts are broken. We miss both of these girls very much.
We still have three cats of our own in the house, plus foster kittens with their mama. But the house feels emptier than it should.
Yelena and Whateley were both rescued by ARFP in Greensboro, NC, when they were kittens. Please consider making a donation to this wonderful organization to save more homeless pets: http://www.arfpnc.com
